(STAND UP, PHILIPPINES!)
Yesterday, August 7, 2012, the Philippines have encountered yet another devastating situation which has caused a lot of dilemma for every Filipinos. It is rather one of the most tragic moments which we truly will never forget. “Habagat” has brought us danger and crisis. It may not be a storm but it has caused torrential rainfall which brought floods and landslides as well, allover Manila. It was said that the flood have paralyzed the Capital of the Philippines, Manila. Most of the dams are almost on their peaks of overflowing. People were stranded everywhere. Even the hospitals were affected that the patients are in a very critical condition more than they are currently experiencing at the moment. Until now, August 8, 2012, the rain is still falling nonstop and the floods are still present everywhere. There have been reports of dead and injured people, but it was great that people who were rescued are more than the numbers of people who died.
After all of these tragic events that we’ve passed through, it still amaze me how Filipinos could still create a curve line on their faces, smiling as if nothing happened at all. I am truly amazed of those people who sacrifice their safety just to save other’s lives. It amazes me how you can feel the sense of unity within the population. This person helps a random person, this person volunteers on relief operations and etcetera. Others say: “BAHA ka lang, PILIPINO ako!” (“You’re only a FLOOD, I’m a FILIPINO!”) I know that we can stand up again.
“The Philippines may be a third world country but we, Filipinos, definitely have a heart that exceeds a first world country.”
I am proud to be a Filipino and I love our country.
If we stand together, we can rebuild what we have again!
I’m not asking anything for myself but for my country. PLEASE do pray for the Philippines, it really helps a lot. God is bigger than anything else.
